There has been a great deal of hair loss research conducted over many decades. The ongoing debate still remains, “Is hair loss hereditary?” The answer is not a definitive yes or no. Hair loss research tells us that while many hair loss sufferers fall victim to genetics, there are a great deal of external effects contributing to hair loss as well -- most of which can be avoided.

Much of the so-called genetic hair loss can be stopped – with vitamins for hair loss prevention!

Vitamins for Hair Loss Prevention

The first step to stopping hair loss and growing new hair is to create a healthy scalp. Think of your scalp as a garden. If you plant flowers in polluted soil, they will grow weak and die fast -- or not grow at all. The same concept applies to your hair growth – and hair loss, for that matter. Just as you might use plant vitamins in your garden, or take a daily multi-vitamin daily for your own health, your scalp, too, needs vitamins for hair loss prevention.

Hair Loss Research -- Sebum Contamination

One major cause of hair loss is the mixture of micro-pollutants, hair care product residues and Sebum clogging your hair follicle entrance. Sebum is an oily substance produced by your skin and it plays an important role in the health of your scalp. However, stress and a diet high in animal fat create excess Sebum secretion. When the sebum leaves your underlying scalp layer, it reaches the surface of your scalp and mixes with the dirt and hair care product residues. Because the sebum is now on your scalp and exposed to air, it hardens (oxidizes) and creates a thick, black, tar-like substance, which clogs your hair follicle entrance. The Sebum bacteria will damage the follicle – one of the most common causes of hair loss.

Hair Loss Research -- Hormones and DHT

Your body naturally produces testosterone. When this hormone mixes with the Sebum/dirt substance that is now impacted in your follicle, it creates a powerful substance called DHT. When formed, DHT causes the follicle to begin shutting down and eventually dies. Hair loss research experts call this Androgenetic Alopecia.

When the body’s immune system senses dying follicles, its defense system kicks in to attack and remove, just as it would a cold or flu virus. And when your hair follicles are being attacked by your immune system, the end result, inevitably, is hair loss. When you get a cold or flu virus, you take vitamins. So why wouldn’t you take vitamins for hair loss, too?

Hair Loss Research -- Poor Circulation & Stress

According to hair loss research, poor circulation in your scalp (due to stress) can cause balding. The head is the highest point on your body and therefore the most difficult place to supply blood, resulting on poor circulation. A tight scalp due to stress will also constrict your scalp's blood vessels and prevent vital nutrients from reaching your hair follicles.
